Works With Netflix And Other Streaming Services
If you need a good VPN that works with Netflix and other streaming services, then ExpressVPN is a great choice. It is one of the few VPNs that continues to work with Netflix, providing 24/7 access.
For this ExpressVPN review, I tested out US Netflix with an ExpressVPN server in Washington DC. Everything worked perfectly, as you can see below.
To use Netflix with ExpressVPN, simply start the ExpressVPN app on your device, connect to a server of your choice in the Netflix region you want to use, and then stream Netflix as normal.
If you get any kind of proxy error with Netflix when you are connected to an ExpressVPN server, just contact ExpressVPNs chat support and theyll tell you which server to use instead.
ExpressVPN is one of the best VPNs for Netflix for three main reasons:
- Good streaming quality with fast speeds
- 24/7 access to Netflix
- Unblocks numerous Netflix regions around the world: US, UK, Canada, Australia, France, Italy, Japan, and Germany.
How To Use Warzone VPN To Avoid Sbmm And Get Easy Games
Want to use a VPN in Warzone to avoid SBMM and get yourself some easy games? JGODs new guide reveals some interesting facts about the process.
Weve known about the Warzone VPN process for around a year at this point. In case you havent heard, both content creators and regular players alike have worked out that using a VPN can lead to bypassing Skill-Based Matchmaking and potentially finding easier lobbies.
Of course, what many players may not realize is that the process isnt as simple as streamers may have you believe. And just getting around SBMM wont be enough to guarantee you the bot lobby youre after.
With that in mind, JGOD is helping us out with a guide to using a VPN in Warzone. And the results are certainly interesting.
Expressvpn Review: 13 Pros And Only 1 Con Of Using Expressvpn
ExpressVPN is one of the biggest and most popular names in the VPN business. Established in 2009 and run by a British Virgin Islands-based company, it has been offering security and privacy for a long time now.
While it is by no means the cheapest service existing, I believe that there is much to look forward to in ExpressVPN. Their sheer volume of features combined with a large spread of server locations makes it a service hard to beat.

What Can A VPN Do
A VPN can do a lot of things, and thats because it changes your IP address. Every computer has a unique IP address when theyre connected to the internet, which tells other computers where in the world youre located. With a VPN, you connect to another computer before heading to the internet, effectively telling other computers that youre in a different location. With most VPN services, you can actually choose this falsified location yourself.
With a new IP address, there are a ton of possibilities. Streaming platforms like Netflix, for example, have different content for different parts of the world. A VPN changes your digital location, allowing you to access the streaming libraries in other countries.
At the extreme end, a VPN helps bypass censorship. Some government agencies around the world use geo-blocking, which is a technique for region locking content based on your IP address to block websites and services. VPNs get around the issue by changing your IP address and making it seem like youre connected to the internet from a different location.
On the flip side, VPNs remove accountability, so some people use them for torrenting copyrighted content and engaging in other illegal activities online.
Heres a quick rundown of some of the things you can do with a VPN:
Server Network A Vast Collection Of Servers Distributed Worldwide
ExpressVPN has tons of servers worldwide, which will help you find a faster, more stable connection. When servers have a high load a percentage telling you how full they are the speed can slow down and the connection can become less reliable. Generally, your speeds will also drop a little the farther away a server is. Thats why its a good thing ExpressVPN has 3,000 servers in 90 countries. Theres a good chance youll find a server close by that isnt crowded.
ExpressVPN doesnt just have wide coverage throughout the world but also within countries. For example, its nice to see servers on both Australian coasts. There are also servers in several countries that other VPNs often neglect, including Hong Kong, Venezuela, and Turkey. Just keep in mind these are virtual locations, and that might affect speeds. Western Europe and North America have the best coverage with servers evenly distributed throughout each.
While the IP addresses are all owned by ExpressVPN, they do work with third-party data centers. Their job is to maintain the servers, but they have no access to the information on them. After contacting ExpressVPN, I was told their partners can see traffic coming in and out of the server but dont have the proper credentials to tie any online activity to individual users. So even though it works with a third party to maintain its servers, this wont compromise your privacy.

Are There Any Limitations To A VPN
Companies like Netflix and the BBC are playing a constant game of whack-a-mole to lock out VPN endpoint addresses, so only a few VPNs cater to region-shifting for video streaming.
Similarly, full torrenting support with a SOCKS5 proxy is a niche feature among VPNs.
Recently, services including Netflix have allowed some suspected VPN users to connect to any of its regional sites, but only show them their local catalogue. Our tests check for region-exclusive content in order to accurately guard VPN services streaming prowess.
On a desktop computer, you can go about your day-to-day internet use with a VPN connected without much fuss — although you may need to reconnect your VPN if your connection to your ISP or Wi-Fi network drops. However, using a VPN on a mobile device can increase battery consumption.
Not all VPNs prevent all data leaks, for example via IPv6, WebRTC, or even outdated or misconfigured VPN protocols.
Will A VPN Slow Down My Internet Connection
No, a VPN should connect to your existing Wi-Fi network with no conflicts. The VPN should only affect your virtual network connection and not the actual connection with the phone/broadband line. So, youll still be connected to your original network, though you will appear to be running through your own network. Therefore, your internet connection should still run at a reasonable speed.

How Does A VPN Work In Practice
A VPN masks a users true location to the one they set their VPN to. This enables them to access content or websites typically restricted to that region. For example, a user in the U.S. can set their location to the United Kingdom and watch content from streaming websites aimed at British audiences. A U.S. citizen can also continue streaming their favorite shows even when they are away from the country on holiday.
Let us take a look at some of the common uses of VPNs.
Protecting Browsing History
A VPN enables users to keep search informationsuch as medical conditions, required surgery or treatment, travel plans, or even gift idea researchprivate and prevents their ISP and web browser from serving related ads.
Securing IP Address and Location Data
An IP address is the internets equivalent of the return address on a handwritten letter. Therefore, anyone that knows a users IP address can access the information they have searched for on the internet and where they were when they searched for it. Furthermore, a users search history can be viewed if they connect to a web browser on a public or work computer.
VPNs use IP addresses that do not belong to a user, which enables them to connect to and browse the web anonymously while maintaining their privacy online. Using a VPN also enables users to prevent their search history data from being collected, viewed, and sold.
Hiding Streaming Location
Ensuring Internet Freedom
Advantage : Bypass Geographical Restrictions
Its not just countries that impose restrictions on the internet. Some online services also restrict access to their content in certain regions. This happens with streaming services that only have broadcasting rights in certain countries and not in others.
If you are on holiday or you moved to a different country, you might be unable to view your usual streams. A VPN will also enable you to connect to the internet via servers in your home country, so you can watch your favorite show or access blocked websites again. It also works the other way around: if you want to gain access to websites or streaming services from a different country , you can do so with a VPN.

Faster Speeds With The Lightway Protocol
One of the biggest benefits to Lightway is the potential for faster speeds and better overall performance. I ran some tests of Lightway on a Mac OS computer with a 500 Mbps connection. Here were some results with US servers:
ExpressVPN Lightway server in Seattle: 196 Mbps.
This is better than before with OpenVPN.
ExpressVPN Lightway server speeds in Los Angeles:
Another good ExpressVPN speed test result.
ExpressVPN Lightway server in New York:
As you can see, Lightway speeds are much better than OpenVPN.
While Lightway is faster than OpenVPN, we still see thats its not quite as fast as other VPNs with WireGuard. You can see this in our ExpressVPN vs Surfshark comparison report.
Lightway vs WireGuard
For comparison, here is a speed test with NordVPN using the WireGuard protocol:
As you can see, NordVPN with the WireGuard protocol is giving us speeds that are over 200 Mbps faster than ExpressVPN with Lightway.
Recommendation: If speed is your top priority, then check out NordVPN with WireGuard.
Could A VPN Somehow Fail To Ensure My Safety
While the right VPN can be a definite asset in terms of your online safety, then, there are ways in which a VPN provider can conceivably let you down at least in some cases.
As we just discussed, while your ISP may no longer be able to see your internet traffic when using a VPN, the VPN provider can instead see what youre up to online or at least thats possible.
Again, this is why its important to use one of the best VPNs and well-known providers which have been around a long time, and have built a reputation as being trustworthy. Another thing to look out for is VPN firms which dont just make privacy promises and claims, but actually have their security and no logs procedures independently audited and verified.
A good VPN should also ensure that it guards against DNS leaks where data about your online activities leaks out of the VPNs encrypted tunnel and it should use a kill switch in its app. A kill switch steps in to save your privacy and stop data being sent out unprotected if the VPN connection drops .
Any well-thought-of VPN will have all this, and we do the hard work for you, scrutinizing apps and privacy policies alike in our VPN reviews to ensure that these vital features are present .

How Does Expressvpn Work Plus How To Set It Up And Use It
ExpressVPN is one of our higher-rated VPNs. Here’s everything you need to get it, install it, configure it, and use it successfully.
The acronym VPN stands for virtual private network. Those three words tell a lot about how a VPN works.
Let’s start with network. VPNs provide network connections, meaning they move data to and from your device. Private means they make that movement private, helping prevent hackers from seeing what you’re sending. And virtual means that you’re doing it all in software. You’re not running a new set of wires. Instead, you’re creating a software-based network connection that then moves data over the physical connection .
What a VPN actually does is take data that you’re sending out over the internet and encrypt it before it leaves your machine. That encrypted data is sent to the VPN provider’s servers, where it’s decrypted, and then sent on to, say, Google or Netflix. ExpressVPN, which is the service we’re talking about in this guide, has more than 3,000 servers in 160 locations.
On the flip side, a VPN takes data from a server on the internet, encrypts it on one of ExpressVPN’s servers, sends that encrypted data to your computer, which decrypts it when it arrives.
Slow Speeds With Openvpn Protocol
Another noteworthy drawback with ExpressVPN is the performance issues we found with the OpenVPN protocol. The OpenVPN protocol is still the most widely-used protocol with VPN services and offers security and good performance. OpenVPN is also open source and trusted by many users and organizations.
We ran speed tests using the OpenVPN protocol with ExpressVPN on a 500 Mbps connect. The results were not very good.
ExpressVPN server in Seattle with the OpenVPN protocol: 32 Mbps.
This is really slow considering my baseline of 500 Mbps and the fact that OpenVPN speeds can often get about 200 to 300 Mbps.
Next up was an ExpressVPN server in Los Angeles at 41 Mbps.
While this is slightly better than the previous server in Seattle, it is still far slower than it should be. We should be getting speeds of well over 100 Mbps with the OpenVPN protocol.
Its clear that ExpressVPN is struggling with OpenVPN speeds. This could be problematic for people who opt for OpenVPN as their primary VPN protocol.
There is another alternative, however, and that is to just use the Lightway protocol. And with Lightway, ExpressVPN beats out many other VPN services, as you can see in the ExpressVPN vs CyberGhost post.

Is A VPN Safe
You may wonder how safe you are with a VPN provider. Your internet traffic is redirected and runs through the servers of the VPN provider. The provider can see everything you do if it would want to. Therefore, its important that you have confidence in your VPN service. Most VPN services do not log what you do and wont store your data.
However, there are VPN services that abuse the data that travels through their servers and sell your data to advertisers, for example. This is especially the case with free VPNs. These are often not safe. Before using a VPN, it is therefore important that you do research in advance. Well give you a few recommendations for good and secure VPN services later in this article.
How Do I Install A VPN On My Router
is the best way to make sure everything thats connected to that router is put through a safe VPN connection. In that scenario, you no longer need to install individual apps on your mobile devices, laptops, smart TVs or anything else with web access.
First, make sure that your router is compatible with VPNs. This can be done on the website of the manufacturer that produced the router. Often, most DD-WRT and Tomato-boosted FlashRouters are compatible with VPNs.
Installation is simple and involves you logging in to your router and then filling out a couple of standard forms nothing you wont be able to handle.

Is Expressvpn Any Good And Worth Getting
Overall, ExpressVPN does leave an impression of a trustworthy, safe, and capable VPN service. The connection speeds can be pretty fast, its possible to unblock most streaming platforms, and torrenting isnt excluded.
You get all the necessary VPN security features like split tunneling and kill switch. There are no DNS leaks or vulnerabilities that could expose your IP address. Plus, you get the router app and the MediaStreamer feature.
That said, theres nothing extra aside from VPN functionalities. Also, even though for the most part the speeds are fast, there were quite a few locations with severe speed drops. So, the consistency will be hit or miss.
It may not be such a big deal, but considering that its almost twice the price of the competition for similar yearly plans, youre in the right to ask for more. If ExpressVPN rethought its pricing plans and fixed the connectivity issues, it would take a step closer to the VPN throne.
Does Expressvpn Record My Data
Users can opt into sharing additional anonymous app diagnostics like crash reports, usability diagnosis, and VPN connection diagnostics. This includes info about failed connection attempts and speed test data.
