Video: How To Change WiFi IP Address on Android
In my Every Proxy Tutorial, I showed you how to share your internet connection or VPN from your Android phone to a PC or another Android phone.
For this to be possible, youll have to change the IP address of your WiFi connection to what the Every Proxy app specifies.
This is the second part of the article, and Im going to show you how to change your WiFi IP settings for any reason you want.
First make sure youre connected to a WiFi network and then go to your phones Settings and look for Internet and Network.
Next, tap the WiFi label you see.
At this point, youll be seeing the WiFi network youre currently connected to, you can long press it to see the Edit option, or just tap the Gear icon like in my case.
Not all interfaces are the same on all phones. On my phone, I have my edit option as a pencil icon at the top right of my phone.
If yours isnt there, go back and long press the name of the WiFi network youre connected to, to see the Edit option.
If you have a pencil icon, tap it.
Now you will get a new list of options, first tap Advanced Options then scroll down to find the Proxy option, under it, you should get a None.
Now, tap None and then select Manual.
Scroll down a bit till you find the areas where you can input your IP and Port. Youll probably see a third option labelled , you dont need to worry about it.
When youre done, tap the SAVE button.

Connecting To A VPN On Android With A Dedicated App
Utilizing a dedicated VPN app is a much easier and quicker alternative to manually setting up a VPN connection. Theres a wide selection of Android VPN providers to choose from. While the free versions are often feature-limited, they should mostly get the job done.
So, how to set up a VPN on Android for free through a dedicated VPN application? There are multiple ways to go about it. First, youll need to find a good free VPN online. Once youve chosen your preferred provider, the next step involves downloading the application itself.
You can download the app through Google Play. If you cannot access the store for some reason, you can find APK installation files online by doing a quick Google search. Simply download them and initiate the installation manually. Be careful if youre downloading the APK files from a non-official site, as they could potentially be infected with malware.
After you initiate the installation, the process is mostly automatic, with the installer handling most VPN settings for Android by itself. Another thing to keep in mind is that many free VPNs out there actually do not encrypt your connection and just serve to spoof your location instead. Hence, we recommend that you stick to proven and reputable providers such as NordVPN or ExpressVPN. They not only make connecting to a VPN easier but safer, too.

How To Change Your Ip Address And Location With A VPN
Its fascinating that you can travel around the globe with a single click of a button with IP and location-changing tools. Say what? Luckily, VPNs are a popular and easy way to be virtually present in any city and country globally, along with a temporary IP address.
VPNs are well-known among individuals and businesses for their easy-to-use and valuable purposes. From providing users with online security to unlocking restricted online content, VPNs are popular among streamers and privacy-centric individuals alike.
Whether youre going to use a VPN for streaming foreign online content or to beef up your online security while you access your bank accounts, the basic idea of a VPN remains the same: the ability to change your real IP address and physical location with a virtual IP address and location.

Android is the worlds greatest mobile operating system.
And Google is the one that currently maintains it.
So whats new then?
While no one can debate the fact that Android looks all set to remain as popular as ever on the mobile platform, that has not stopped the developers of Android from introducing new and interesting features to the platform.
Year after year we see Android developers doing something crazy in order to woo customers away from all other mobile operating systems no matter how insignificant they may be.
However, Android cannot really work without some help from the internet.
And since the internet is such a big part of anything and everything these days, it also stands to reason that if something affected the internet it would for sure affect many Android devices as well.
Online issues do occur and sometimes they can be nasty.
Fortunately though, if you have the right guide with which you have the option of changing DNS settings on Android, then you should not have a problem in solving many of the network errors that occur on the Android platform from time to time.
So without making you read any more, lets just jump straight into how to manually configure and then change DNS settings on Android.
What Are The Different VPN Protocols
If you opt to go the DIY route and set up the VPN manually, you will have to choose which VPN protocol you want to use. So, its a good idea to familiarize yourself with the different options that are available how they operate andtheir strengths and weaknesses. Some VPN providers, including Avast SecureLine, support multiple protocols.
One of the most popular and recommended protocols,OpenVPN is a highly secure, highly configurable open-source platform that can use AES 256-bit encryption and is especially good at bypassing firewalls. OpenVPN works on all of the major operating systems, including Android and iOS. However, it is not natively supported on any platform, which means you have to add it to your mobile device via a third-party client .
Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol is a common protocol supported by most operating systems. It was developed by Microsoft and others back in the 1990s. This protocol is fast, but its considered to be one of the least secure options available today which is probably why it is no longer natively supported by iOS. We do not recommend the use of this protocol, so we did not include it in the setup sections below.
IPSec can also be used on its own and is natively supported on iOS devices.
Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol is a proprietary Microsoft protocol that can provide a very secure connection and is good at bypassing firewalls, but its compatibility is limited to;Windows devices.

How Does A VPN Change Your Ip Address And Location
A VPN, or Virtual Private Network, changes your apparent location by sending your traffic through a server in another location. Heres how that works:
- Your VPN app lets you select a server anywhere in the world where your VPN service has servers. NordVPN, for example, has servers in 59 different countries .
- When you connect to the server youve selected, your app will form an encrypted tunnel around all of the traffic coming from your device. That VPN tunnel will lead straight to your selected server, which will decrypt your traffic and send it to its final destination. However, your IP address which helps determine your location and identity will now be that of the server. Yours will be hidden from the world.
- Thats it anyone using your IP address to discover your location will now see your location as the location of the server. You can still use the app and change your VPN server to new locations whenever you want. To check if your VPN location changer is working, you can see your online location here.

The built-in VPN feature on an Android phone comes with support for PPTP, L2TP, and IPSec. None are the most secure, and PPTP, in particular, is quite outdated. Use this method if you absolutely have to or if the OpenVPN protocol isnt available for the private network you want to connect to.
To connect to OpenVPN, youll have to rely on a third-party app like OpenVPN Connect instead. OpenVPNs official app runs on any device running Android 4.1 and above.
