When Youre Dealing With Firewalls
Whether its a firewall at work or school, or a government-enforced firewall that censors Internet content, youre going to need to keep your VPN on at all times if you want to bypass it.
If you dont do that, your real IP address will be leaked. When that happens, youll no longer be able to bypass the firewall since it relies on knowing your real address.
Also, whoever is monitoring the network traffic will see that youre trying to bypass the firewall. And you might end up in trouble if youre caught.
Is Norton Secure VPN Good For Netflix
Norton Secure VPN unblocks Netflix US, which is the largest content library there is.
The VPN service delivers fast connection speeds and is one of the cheaper services on the market.
That said, we dont recommend Norton VPN for streaming. Norton even makes it clear on its website that unblocking streaming services is not one of its priorities.
While some VPN services create dedicated resources to help get around Netflix blocks, Norton shows little desire to keep its service working. Instead, it encourages you to use split tunneling to avoid using the VPN for streaming activity.
- Apple iOS
- Google Android
Unfortunately, thats where support ends. There are no apps for Linux-based systems, game consoles, smart TVs, or Amazon Fire TV Stick. There arent any workarounds available to support these platforms either, so you wont be able to use Norton Secure VPN to stream Netflix on your TV.
The cheapest subscription plan, normally costing $3.33 per month, only allows you to use one device. More expensive plans are available which cover up to five or 10 devices.
Norton Secure VPN is an okay VPN for streaming Netflix US. But there are similarly-priced options with faster international connections speeds, stronger security, and better device-compatibility than Norton Secure.

Worried About Your Online Privacy
This should be at the top of the list, but, as weve said earlier, most users regard VPNs utility as merely occasional. As a result, not many are concerned with their online privacy, when in fact this should be their first concern.
But, to get back on tracks, if youre worried about your online privacy, then you should definitely leave your VPN running at all times. This will make it way more difficult for anyone to track your every move online.
Sure, VPN might slow down your Internet speed a bit, but in our opinion, thats a tiny price to pay for regaining whats rightfully yours: your privacy.
On the other hand, if your ISP also has the unfortunate habit of throttling your bandwidth , youll circumvent it right away. VPNs are popular for curbing packet loss and improving in-game ping without an effort.
Norton Secure VPN Review: User
With a pedigree that includes online security giants like Norton and LifeLock, you would expect the Norton Secure VPN to be an industry leader. But the kids dont always live up to their parents expectations, as you will see in this Norton Secure VPN review.
Norton Secure VPN is easy to use and offers quality security and encryption protocols to hide your online activity from prying eyes. But it has some big flaws and shortcomings that you need to know about before relying on it to protect your online privacy.
In this Norton VPN review, we take you along as we look at the pros and cons of Norton Secure VPN. In particular, weve highlighted the factors that we dont like. Not because we dislike Norton, LifeLock, or their Secure VPN, but because there are so many other good VPN services to choose from. We hope that this review will be useful to you in your search for the VPN that best meets your unique needs.

Norton Secure VPN Customer Support
Norton Secure VPN has a small support library with good setup and troubleshooting guides and in-depth frequently asked questions section. Theres also 24/7 live chat, support on social media platforms, and phone support .
The support library displays Quick Help guides on topics like Download and Install, Buy and Renew, and Help Protect & Fix, and the library also has a search option. While Id like to see Norton Secure VPN display all of the guides on the support page like CyberGhost VPN does, I like how the information in the support library is very detailed and thorough. I found the support guides very helpful, as they allowed me to resolve most of my issues. That said, I would like Norton Secure VPN to add video tutorials for setup like ExpressVPN and IPVanish offer.
On the other hand, Norton does provide a forum with an active community where you can post your questions or issues and interact with other users.
Norton Secure VPN is one of the few VPNs that has phone support. It covers 50+ countries, and the availability differs depending on the country . I tested the phone support line for my country , and I was connected to a live agent after answering a couple of automated questions. However, the agent was very friendly, very knowledgeable, and answered all of my questions.
Banking And Shopping Online
Whenever you do online banking or shopping, use your VPN. Online banking requires you to share sensitive information about your finances, various passwords, and bank account information. Dont make things easy for a hacker by accessing this information without a VPN. Your sensitive data needs to be kept private and protected.

How To Fix Norton Secure VPN Not Working For Torrenting
If you see the message Warning: Torrent Traffic Active, Norton has detected torrenting traffic. Norton does not allow torrenting on its VPN, and says it will disable your VPN connection if you try. This is true for all torrenting clients, including uTorrent.
For that reason, we cannot recommend using Norton Secure VPN for torrenting. If you do try it, ensure you enable the kill switch in the settings. The kill switch is only available on Windows and Android.
There are signs that Nortons stance on this might be changing. In the Android and Windows apps, Norton is adding a feature to choose a torrent-optimized region from the VPN regions, which would enable torrenting.
Is The VPN Free With Norton
Yes, you get free VPN services if you purchase one of the Norton 360 premium subscriptions. It is included with the Deluxe, LifeLock Select, and LifeLock Ultimate Plus plans.
However, keep in mind that the basic subscription of Norton Antivirus Plus does not include VPN services. So, you wouldnt be able to use it for free.

Norton Secure VPN is a security app that helps keep you safe while you surf the web. It prevents your online activity from being tracked by 3rd party trackers, including ISPs, or the websites that you visit, giving you private internet access. It also helps in blocking ad trackers by intercepting cookies and removing your identifying information.

Inconsistent And Sometimes Slow Speeds
For this Norton VPN review we ran tests with servers around the world. All tests were conducted on a 500 Mbps connection from the United States.
There was no way to select the city for speed tests, but instead you can only select the country.
First, we tested the US, which should have offered the fastest speeds. The Norton VPN server in the US was geolocated somewhere in New York. It only gave us about 50 Mbps:
Next, I tested a Norton VPN server in Canada. This server was a bit faster at 84 Mbps, but still a far cry from our baseline speed of 500 Mbps.
While this server speed test was a bit better than before, it is not in the realm of our best VPNs for Canada, which are consistently faster than Norton VPN.
Next, I tested a Norton VPN server in the United Kingdom. This was the worst speed test result of them all, at only 7 Mbps:
Finally, I tested a Norton VPN server in Germany, which gave me about 45 Mbps.
Overall, these are not very good speeds. These slow speeds could visibly affect performance when interacting with websites or online games.
If performance is your top priority, you may want to look at other options. The 7 Mbps test results were bad. And even the fastest test result, at 84 Mbps, it not very good performance when you consider the 500 Mbps baseline connection speed.

VPN Turns Off – Solution for Windows 10
Ive been dealing with the Norton VPN tuning off for over a month. All Norton support say is they are working on it. There may be many reasons for the problem, but this Solution worked for me. The problem occurs when you step away for a while and Either: By Locking your Computer, your Screen Saver starts, or based on your Power Settings, the PC starts turning things off to Save Power. One of the things that turns off is the Network Card/Connection. When this happens the NIC card goes to sleep and the Norton VPN connection drops. When you come back to your PC the VPN that was Turned On when you left is now Turned Off.
OK great story, but what the heck do you do about it?
1 In Windows 10 go to your Power & Sleep settings
2 Select Additional Power Settings
3 Click Radio Button for Balanced, then Click Plan Settings
– At this point you can Increase the Time when the Computer will go to Sleep
Note: If that doesnt work Click Radio Button for High Performance and increase the Sleep time
4 If when you leave your PC you like to Lock the PC Session then do this:
– From step 3. Click Change Advanced Power Settings
– Click the Sleep option Plus Sign then look for System unattended sleep timeout
This sub option is usually hidden, to unhide it you need to change the Registry

When You Want To Prevent Bandwidth Throttling
If youre worried your ISP might throttle your bandwidth, or know for a fact they do that, turning off your VPN when youre online isnt a good idea.
If you do that, you wont get anymore traffic encryption. So, your ISP will be able to monitor your traffic once more, and choose to throttle your bandwidth if they dont like what youre wasting their data on.
If youre not okay with having the VPN on 24/7, though, consider just turning it on for more data-intensive activities, like:
- Content streaming
- Long VoIP calls.
Should I Keep My VPN On All The Time
VPNs provide the finest online security, so keep it turned on at all times to protect yourself from data breaches and cyberattacks when using public Wi-Fi, as well as from snoopers like ISPs and advertising. As a result, make sure your VPN is turned on at all times. When you go online, always utilize a VPN.

Pros And Cons Of Using A VPN At Home
Using a VPN at home is preferable, advised even, but it isnt always essential. The main reason it may not be necessary, is that your internet activity should already be shielded by your password-protected Wi-Fi network. The other concern is connecting to a remote server can slow your connection speed.
However, the pros of using a VPN at home largely outweigh the negatives. The main benefit is completely securing your internet from external hackers, as well as preventing your own ISP using your data against you by selling it to third-party companies. It also allows you to watch geo-blocked content at home at your leisure.
Downsides Of Leaving A VPN Turned On
While a VPN offers lots of security benefits and customization, leaving it on constantly does have some drawbacks. The biggest one is that a VPN will slow down your internet speeds. Sometimes this is barely noticeable, and sometimes it has a significant impact that prevents you from doing things like streaming HD movies or playing online games. Thats why most VPNs make it quite easy to flip them off for certain activities . It can also eat up your bandwidth and make it harder to use multiple devices on the same network.
In othercases, as with many firewall-like capabilities, VPNs wont play nice withcertain services and tools you may use on the internet, and you might have todisable it to get these services to work properly. This may include everythingfrom using your printer to accessing local government webpages.

Norton Secure VPN Full Review
I spent a few weeks testing and researching Norton Secure VPN to see how it compares to other top VPNs.
And I can safely say Norton Secure VPN is a user-friendly VPN that has good speeds and is good for basic uses like online browsing, hiding your activity from your internet service provider , and accessing some geo-restricted content.
Norton Secure VPNs easy-to-use apps have an intuitive design that make it simple to navigate for someone who has never used a VPN. You can connect to a server with 1 or 2 clicks, the features are easy to find and use, and most of the functions in the Settings tab include brief explanations. However, experienced users will find Norton Secure VPN also has a few cool features like Tor support, Wi-Fi security, and split-tunneling.
Browsing The Internet Privately
If you want more privacy while browsing the internet, then you should definitely keep your VPN on. VPNs use encryption software to keep your information private. In 2017, Congress passed a bill that allows internet providers to sell your search history to advertisers.3 Because of this decision, privacy is not a guaranteed right on the internet. If you want to be safe and keep your information private, invest in a good VPN.

Are Norton Secure VPNs Speeds Fast Enough For Gaming No
Norton Secure VPN is definitely not a good choice for gaming. Its speeds are slow on both local and international servers, making it impossible to establish a good connection. I tested its gaming performances using Nvidia GeForce Now, which measures:
- Bandwidth measures the amount of data transferred in a given amount of time
- Packet loss measures the percentage of data lost during transfer
- Ping/Latency measures the time needed to get a response from the server
In order to successfully stream a game from Nvidias servers, I need 25 Mbps, and if its an online game, I need at least 30 Mbps.
On the local server I tested, these metrics were within the required intervals its wasnt ideal and I still experienced a great deal of lag. However, the bandwidth stood at 24 Mbps, I had no packet loss meaning that I could still load CS:GO maps without problems. The ping was 52 ms, which is higher than the minimum of 40 ms to play an online game. On a faster base connection, gaming would be possible with Norton Secure VPN, but thats not the case for most people.
The next step was to test an international server, and I chose Nortons US location. The connection was even slower than before, making it impossible to play any game.
Have You Seen The Discounts
1. Logging Policy
What is the definition of a logging policy and why is it important?
All information a VPN provider keeps about you and your activities is known as logs. In an ideal world, your VPN provider wouldnt keep any such information. However, the world we live in isnt ideal.
In order to enhance its services, a VPN provider will need to gather some data. It will do this to improve the performance of its servers and to avoid any potential abuse of its service. The amount of data needed to accomplish this will vary between providers.
Roughly speaking, there are four types of information your VPN provider could gather about you. Some are harmless, others are not. They are:
- VPN service data: Which VPN server youve connected to, the operating system you use, and the app version.
- Connection data: The times and dates you logged in or logged out, the amount of time you used the service for, how much you uploaded and downloaded.
- Original IP address: This is the IP address of the device which you used to log in to the service. Your location can be determined using this.
- Online activity: Which websites you visited, which searches you performed, and which services you used. In essence, this is your browsing history.
Next up is the original IP address. Its collection is not a capital offense, but most users wont prefer it. In the end, youre using a VPN to stay anonymous, meaning you dont really want the VPN provider to know your exact location.
