Is Avast Secureline VPN Good

Don't Miss

Do We Recommend The Service

Avast Secureline VPN Review – Good or Not?

Not really

Avast SecureLine VPN offers a passable service. What you see when you look at them is a company that specializes in digital security that has branched out into a new field that it doesnt completely understand.

Their antivirus solution is good, but their VPN is problematic.

One of the biggest downsides for us was the fact that it does not work consistently with Netflix. Understandably, not everyone purchases a VPN because they want to get around geo-restrictions, but many people do. And from our experience, we have seen that a VPN that is able to get around the geo-restrictions imposed by Netflix is a quality product.

A really good company should not leave something to be desired.

Something else that made us nervous about this service is the fact that its in the Czech Republic. The Czech Republic does not belong to the Five Eyes surveillance program.

However, they are very friendly and financially reliant on a number of countries that do engage in this type of digital surveillance. When we look at Avasts privacy policy, they are very clear that if they are requested to hand over your private information, theyre going to do it.

You can even see for yourself the number of times that they have handed over private information to different governments. Couple that with the fact that they are collecting a lot of your information and privacy becomes an issue.

Sometimes, things could truly be as good as it could getyou just need to be on the right page.

Where Are Avasts Servers Located

One of the biggest complaints that people had about Avast SecureLine VPN is the fact that they had very limited service support. They had servers in 19 countries spread across 27 cities.

It seems that Avast SecureLine VPN understands how this affected their clients and their reputation. At the end of 2017, Avast added an additional 14 countries and 23 cities to their roster.

It is interesting to note that Avast has a server in Africa, in Johannesburg to be exact. There are only a handful of companies that have VPNs in Africa. It is also interesting to note that Avast has servers in the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Asia-Pacific, and in the United States and the United Kingdom.

Unfortunately, they still only have a limited number of servers that work with P2P. These include servers in the United Kingdom, the United States, the Czech Republic, Germany, and the Netherlands.

When you look at their list of servers, you will see an anonymous server that is called Gotham City. Gotham City is set aside specifically for individuals who want to get around the geo-restriction that streaming sites like Netflix and others.

The results you get from using Gotham City are spotty at best. There were times when we used it and were able to connect the Netflix. Other times we received that dreaded Netflix error telling us that they detected our VPN.

Solution : Reinstall Avast Secureline

If the Avast SecureLine VPN still failed to connect, try uninstalling and then reinstalling the software. Also, many users confirmed that reinstalling the Avast SecureLine VPN software worked for them to resolve the connection failed error.

So, follow the steps to first uninstall and then reinstall the software to the latest version.

  • Open Control Panel> click Programs and Features
  • Now choose Avast SecureLine VPN> click Uninstall
  • Hit the Yes button to confirm the UAC dialog.
  • Again click Yes on the softwares uninstaller window.
  • As the uninstallation process is completed > restart your system.

Many times uninstalling the software manually wont remove it completely. Some of it is registry files and junk files left behind and start causing problems. So, here it is suggested to uninstall the program completely run the third-party uninstaller.

How VPN Connections Benefit You

Not everyone has the same priorities or uses the internet in the same way. If you want to improve anonymity online, VPN providers give you a way to discreetly access the Internet through a tunnel service. This type of access masks your communication and displays the VPNs IP address when you connect to a website, instead of your own.

This means that your private home IP address is hidden when browsing different websites. Using a VPN service will likely impact your computer speed as well. If you are looking for a high-performance VPN, make sure that it also keeps your privacy through data encryption between your computer and the target server. With ExpressVPN, you can improve the protection of your data, and stay anonymous on the internet all while browsing at top speeds.

Jurisdiction Is Avast VPN Located In A 5

Avast SecureLine VPN

Avast SecureLine VPNs headquarter is located in Czech Republic that does NOT fall under 5-eyes country. Therefore, the Czech Republic may not be considered a member of a five eyes VPN alliance, but it does collaborate with them.

This fact would raise a few eyebrows. But it is not something that would make me turn away from this VPN. So many people asking me, is Avast VPN good to use? I always say them, if it doesnt fall under these countries then its perfectly safe to use. Still, I like my VPNs outside the dirty claws of the American and British intelligence agencies.

Secureline VPN Which Streaming Platforms Can You Unblock

In addition to preserving your online privacy and security, VPNs are excellent tools for . A lot of people use them to unblock streaming platforms like Hulu and BBC iPlayer, which are only available in the US and the UK, respectively. Even global services like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video have different catalogs for each region or country.

But due to copyright issues and pressure from production studios, VPNs started banning VPN IP addresses. That means not all virtual private networks can still manage to circumvent geo-blocking.

Avast SecureLine VPN claims that it allows you to access any content and enjoy your favorite TV shows. Then again, a lot of VPNs make that same promise. We connected to an American server and attempted to stream shows from different US-restricted platforms. And or the record, we used a server thats optimized for streaming.

We managed to unblock the US version of Netflix from the first attempt. However, SecureLine VPN couldnt get past Hulus and Amazon Prime Videos geo-blocks.

Next, we connected to another streaming-optimized server, but this time, from the UK, home of the popular BBC iPlayer. The platform is known for its strict VPN restrictions, with most providers failing to unblock its content. However, SecureLine VPN helped us access the service without any hiccups.

Avast VPN Privacy And Logs

AVAST SECURELINE VPN TEST & REVIEW 2022 âï¸? : How Good is Avast SecureLine VPN? âð¥

Avast SecureLine VPN is open and honest about logging policy. Users know right from the start what they are in for.

On Avasts support site, the company confirms that it logs these details:

  • The time logs of connection and disconnection

  • How long you stay online using the VPN

  • How much bandwidth you use

Some of your personal information, such as IP address and device name, will be used to log the data. And since Avast SecureLine VPN provides paid-for packages, your account details will not be stored.

You keep your anonymity in what you do while you are logged on. Avast SecureLine VPN does not keep track of:

  • Websites you browse

  • What you download or upload

  • What other IP addresses you access

This knowledge of security will give you some peace of mind that someone is not watching you all the time.

Avasts expert security comes in handy. The company has a secure infrastructure that limits how this information can be accessed. Only by making a physical visit of their premises or by accessing it using an encrypted VPN can someone view your personal information that can identify you.

Only certain individuals within Avast are authorized to work with this information. These individuals use a secure process incorporating passwords.

Your information is not only kept in Avasts servers but also on servers owned by other agents or contractors that the company is in partnership with.

The information is stored under 256-bit encryption:

Avast Uses An Experimental Protocol

Avast has an in-house proprietary protocol called Avast Mimic, which it describes as experimental. This doesnt inspire much confidence when it comes to VPNs, you want data protection to be reliable, not experimental.

When we asked Avast how Mimic works, we were told:

It is a new protocol that employs military grade security and can connect to the internet up to 4x faster. How does it work? It simply mimics/duplicates the connection to all websites you are visiting during your browsing session, providing fake information about who you are and where youre coming from, making it impossible for anyone to identify you, track you or monitor you.

This is confusing, and its not obvious how safe Mimic is. The protocol certainly delivers fast speeds, but wed like a clear and transparent explanation of how the protocol protects your data.

OpenVPN is available as an alternative protocol on Windows and Android, but not on macOS, or iOS. Wed like to see it included across all apps, and WireGuard too.

You cannot change protocol on mobile devices . While the only alternative to Avast Mimic on Mac is the IPSec protocol. IPSec is not an unsafe protocol, but its not as powerful as OpenVPN or WireGuard, which are the leading industry-standard.

Does Avast Secureline VPN Support Split Tunneling

Split tunneling or selective routing enables you to select whether or not an apps traffic goes through the VPN. So with split tunneling, you can choose to send your Netflix traffic through your ISP connection, while sending the rest out through the VPN. Or only send your P2P traffic through the VPN and send the rest out through your ISP connection. With split tunneling, its all up to you. It can handle pretty much any scenario.

Avast SecureLine VPN does not support split tunneling at this time.

Secureline VPN The Speed Tests

Avast SecureLine VPN 5.5.522 Activation Key With Crack Free Download

Speed is an essential factor for commercial VPNs. If users discover that their provider has slow servers, they will most likely cancel their subscription. But instead of wasting time, and sometimes money, we recommend you read user reviews before you subscribe.

Please keep in mind though, that no matter which VPN you choose, you will experience a speed drop. That is due to the encryption algorithm and the rerouting of your traffic. Nevertheless, reputable VPNs make sure the speed drop remains at a minimum. So how fast is Avast SecureLine VPN? We put it through our speed tests.

30-Day Money-Back Guarantee

  • First test: No SecureLine VPN connection

We started with a quick speed test to our Internet connection to see how fast it was without a VPN connection.

  • Second test: Nearby German server

The first SecureLine VPN server we tested was inside Germany, which is near our actual location. Therefore, we did not expect speed to drop by much, and it didnt. We were quite impressed with the result.

  • Third test: UK server

This time, we went a bit farther than Germany and connected to a server in the UK. As you can see, speed decreased by more than 50% but was still at a decent rate.

  • Final test: US server

To conclude our tests, we connected to a SecureLine VPN server thats on a different continent. The US is also home to popular streaming platforms, which is why we had to see the American servers performance. Speed rates significantly dropped by almost 75%.

Avast VPN Review Negatives

With all new product releases, there are always going to be some teething problems and Secureline VPN is certainly experiencing some of its own. Some complaints mentioned have been about their complicated customer service system which has been set up as an online forum. Sadly this online forum can be a bit of a pain, and it is difficult to find the information you are looking for. But, as the online forum is updated more and more by an increased number of users online more of the common problems people experience are being categorized. The paid version does offer an upgrade in customer service too which offers a 24/7 phone-based service.

Next, I mentioned above how Avast Secureline will connect you to the most optimal server. Now there have been a few complaints about this service, where people feel the optimal server is not being connected to. In fact, there have been some complaints of servers not being available for weeks at a time, and customers forced to connect to a server they do not want to be connected to.

Hopefully, these are just some teething problems that Avast are working to fix.

Avast Secureline Speed Connection

When it comes to performance, a VPN service is judged on how fast it can get you online. The faster they are, the better and this is where Avast SecureLine shines. If a VPN service performs badly when it comes to speeds, it usually means that they are overloaded or doing something wrong in terms of basic networking functions.

Avast doesnt allow this to happen to you. Their servers are always optimized for online gaming, and because of this, they can give you top speeds that will make your online gaming experience smooth and lag-free.

Privacy And Security Features Of Avast Secureline VPN

Two of the main reasons for using VPN connections are related to privacy and security. A VPN hides the devices real IP address, if configured correctly.

Avast SecureLine VPN uses industry standard AES-265 encryption with the OpenVPN protocol. The clients lack support for WireGuard, the best option when it comes to protocols, as well as other protocols, IKEv2, which other providers support.

Avast SecureLine VPN offer a few privacy and security features:

  • Kill Switch functionality The kill switch is disabled by default. It will block Internet access on the device if the connection to the VPN drops. It can be configured under Menu > Settings > VPN Mode.
  • Smart VPN Mode — When enabled, will connect and disconnect automatically based on usage.
  • Local device access — Enable access to local devices, e.g. printers or scanners, in private networks.

Avast notes that it is keeping connection logs, but no usage logs. Connection logs include the following information:

  • Connection timestamps .
  • Subnet of the IP address .
  • VPN IP address.
  • Amount of data that is transferred.

The recording of part of the IP address is problematic. While it is true that a user can’t be identified directly, there are not that many options when just the last octet is not recorded .

Avast VPN Review Verdict

Protect yourself online by using Avast SecureLine VPN

My tests for this Avast VPN review proved this is one of the best solutions. With P2P servers, torrenting, kill switch, split tunneling, encryption amongst many others, this VPN is worth a shot.

However, this VPN does store your private data due to the Czech Republics data policies.

This company doesnt offer live chat, but the 24/7 phone support beats the option since you can speak to a human being directly. Also, its speed isnt what Id call lightning fast. Still, its fast enough for regular users.

Whats more?

The company gives you a whole week to try out the service and see if all the above features work for you. Besides, you get a 30-day money-back guarantee. Dont hesitate, try it now!

Avast Secure Line Analysis And Features

Avast SecureLine VPN offers optimal solutions in terms of security and speed of navigation. Below are some common features of a VPN service that guarantee proper operation and good experience.

In the case of Avast SecureLine VPN we can say that it meets the expectations necessary to qualify as a good service of this kind.

Avast Secureline VPN Customer Service

If you run into any issues while using Avast SecureLine VPN, there are a few places where you can get help.

The companys website has a well-organized help section that can answer most common questions that you might have.

The help center is searchable, but you can also browse guides and FAQs by topic.

If you cant find the answer to your question on the website, there is a contact form that you can fill out on the website to get in touch with Avast customer support.

Both the help center and the contact form are well-designed, but I was disappointed when I submitted a question and didnt receive a response.

Avast also offers a phone line that you can call to get help with any technical issues that you run into.

You can call and receive a free consultation, but the technical experts will then charge a hefty fee if you want them to help you fix your problem.

If I am paying a company to provide me with a VPN service, I dont expect to have to pay an additional fee to get live technical support.

Most of the big names in the VPN market right now provide 24/7 live chat support that you can use anytime at no additional cost.

Overall, I was impressed with the quality of Avasts help center but not very impressed with the quality of the companys customer service.
