Avast SecureLine VPN – Why you need it

Yes. Avast SecureLine VPN is a standalone application. You do not need Avast Security or Avast Premium Security installed on your Mac to use Avast SecureLine VPN.

Tariff Plans And Prices

As I have mentioned earlier, Avast VPN has an unusual price policy. It is the first VPN I know of that has several different prices for the same services at once.

What can we think of it? Is it an attempt to milk money from customers with maximum efficiency? Entering the website, they see one price while if they use the trial version before buying the VPN, they are going to see another, lower price. Thus, those users who have already spent twice as much, wont even learn that the price couldve been lower!

As a customer, I didnt appreciate such an approach to pricing. Thats the reason why I published a way to buy the very same full-fledged version but cheaper by 1.5 or 2 times.

But even those prices are not exactly cheap. You can find some reallycheap VPNs on this site.

Avast Secureline VPN Review Conclusion

The Avast SecureLine VPN is a decent product that is hampered by a lot of externals. The VPN itself is user-friendly and provides strong security without any data leaks that we could find. But there is nothing here that makes it stand out from the crowd. The performance is mediocre, access to Netflix is marginal, and the server network is on the small side.

Now add in that the price is on the high side after the initial discount wears off, the 30-day refund would be a headache, the company keeps fairly extensive connection logs, and Avast was caught selling user data gathered by their antivirus apps.

While VPN itself works just fine, and Avast is a well-known name in the Internet security world, we cant really recommend this product.

Solution : Turn Off Windows Defender Firewall

Step 1: Open the Run application on Windows and input firewall.cpl, then click OK to open Windows Defender Firewall.

Step 2: Click Turn Windows Defender Firewall on or off to open the Customize Settings.

Step 3: Check both the Turn off Windows Defender Firewall options and press the OK button.

Fix : Check If The VPN Service Is Down

Although its rare, the VPN service could be down during scheduled maintenance periods or unexpected outages.

You can use a website called Is It Down Right Now to check the current Avast server status.

If you know someone else who also uses Avast services, ask if they are currently experiencing the same problem. If their answer is yes, the issue is probably related to Avasts servers.

In such situations, the best thing you can do is be patient. Outages will rarely last longer than an hour.

What About Avast Secureline Keygens

Avast SecureLine KeyGens are just as dangerous as the supposed free license downloads. Although there are some that may work, the majority of them are going to put you at risk of suffering from a computer virus.

Unless you know what youre doing, we do not recommend trying to use a SecureLine key generator to generate a license key that you can then use to unlock the software.

Here are some promising-looking Google search results

But when delving further, it becomes apparent that these sites cannot be trusted, and while you can try your luck with the keys they provide, you should never download anything from them.

How Can I Protect My Data

In its coverage, Motherboard reached out to users of Avast antivirus software and found that many of them were unaware that their data was being collected. The story serves as a good reminder to be vigilant and check the permissions you have given to your software provider, to ensure you are happy with the information it is actively harvesting about you.

There’s a lot of websites and software out there that are collecting your data, and there’s a reason. Money. A profile of you as an individual, your likes, dislikes, spending habits and so on are invaluable to companies with deep pockets.

To protect your identity, especially in the week that Data Privacy Day happens to land, it’s worth taking a few minutes out of your day to double check what you’re giving away, even if you think your information is secure. So, check your profiles, remove the right to collect information or target you for advertising if you’re not happy with it, and take back control of your online persona.

What To Look For When Choosing A VPN

Why is Avast SecureLine VPN a paid product when other VPN services are free?

There are many VPN providers out there how do you choose just one? The first thing to keep in mind is that free VPNs services are low-quality and should be avoided. There are many problems with free VPNs, including:

    • Poor security: Many free options employ weaker security protocols, such as PPTP.

    • Fewer servers: Your speed can slow to a crawl when there arent enough servers to cover the necessary bandwidth of many users.

    • Annoying ads: Some free VPNs rely on ads to generate revenue on their free VPN app.

    • : Free services usually put harsh limits on how much you can download or even upload.

Many good paid services offer a free trial, allowing you to take it for a test drive before commiting. A paid VPN service is essential for secure, reliable VPN use but how do you know which provider to choose? There are many factors to keep in mind when selecting the perfect VPN app:

Is It Safe To Use Avast Secureline

Avast Secureline is a VPN product from the same company. It promises as all VPNs do to keep your data private and hide your identity online. Many VPN users would be horrified of the thought of their data being collected in some way. It’s a practice we’ve seen in free VPNs, but as Secureline is a paid-for product, users wouldn’t expect to have their information recorded.

Secureline customers are no doubt concerned about the news of Avast collecting information, but we have seen no indication that the company is adopting the same practice with Secureline. All the information available has shown that while the browser plug-in and antivirus software have been used to collect information, nothing points to Secureline being included in this list. VPN products live and die by their ability to provide protection and privacy to paying customers, so it would be something of a misfire on Avast’s part to risk this relationship through data collection.

Update: We reached out to Avast and asked for confirmation as to whether Secureline users were having their data collected. It told us that no data is ever taken from Secureline. An Avast spokesperson stated:

We have a long track record of protecting users devices and data against malware, and we understand and take seriously the responsibility to balance user privacy with the necessary use of data for our core security products.

    Avast Keeps Connection Logs

When you visit the Avast SecureLine VPN webpages, youll notice that they state the VPN, Doesnt log websites visited or app usage. A thorough review of the VPNs Privacy Policy seems to confirm this. Avast SecureLine VPN doesnt keep usage logs. Thats great.

However, while they dont keep usage logs, they do keep connection logs. These connection VPN logs record when you log onto and off of the VPN. But that isnt all they log. According to the VPN privacy policy, they actually record:

    • Timestamps of your connections .
    • The subnet of your originating IP address. An IP address is composed of 4 octets of data. Each octet consists of 8 bits of data, with a range from 0 to 255. The first three octets collectively identify a subnet. The final octet identifies the device. According to Avast, they anonymize the final octet of the address, meaning they dont identify you directly. But there are a maximum of 255 devices that could be identified by that final octet.
    • IP address of the VPN server you are using.
    • The amount of data transferred while you are logged on.

While the VPN policy explains the reasons Avast records each of these types of data, these logs make us uncomfortable. Of course, there are many VPNs that keep some basic logs, which we showed in the CyberGhost review, so you really want to read the fine print.

If this leaves you feeling uncomfortable, check out these VPNs keep no logs.

Solution : Change The VPN Location

AVG SecureLine provides a feature where you can choose the VPN location specifically. The location can be the USA or Australia, etc. It is a very common scenario that specific VPN locations are either overloaded or not working because you tend to select the same location when you use AVG SecureLine.

This solution is to change the location of Avast VPN and the following are the steps:

Step 1: Open the Avast VPN application and select the Privacy option on the left side of the screen.

Step 2: Then click the Change Location button and select another location that wasnt selected before.

Step 3: Save your changes and exit. Then restart your computer.

Now you can see if it fixes the Avast VPN not working issue. If not, you can try the next solution.

Fix : See If There Are Too Many Connection Attempts

VPN services rarely allow for an unlimited number of devices to use the product on one account. SecureLine sets the limit higher than many of its competitors, allowing for up to 10 devices to be connected simultaneously, which will be more than enough for most users.

However, if you share your account with multiple family members and friends, and they all use the product at the same time, its very possible that you will exceed the limit.

    No Anonymous Payment Options

While more and more VPN services are supporting anonymous payment options such as Bitcoin, Avast has stuck with the classics, credit or debit card, along with PayPal.

Considering the way their products are designed to make things simple for users, it shouldnt be a surprise that the payment options should be simple too. However, if you want to pay with Bitcoin, both NordVPN and CyberGhost support this option.
